Yavapai Cheap Shot During Baseball Game Against Scottsdale Community College

Scottsdale Community College and Yavapai Community College. With the Fighting Artichokes of Scottsdale batting, the drama kicks off as a batter pushes a bunt up the first-base line. Although first base is not included in the camera's view, the players from both teams soon converge near that part of the diamond. Once the situation seems in hand, however, the Yavapai left fielder delivers what is being widely dubbed as the "worst cheap shot ever" in a baseball game

With everyone's attention focused on whatever happened near first base, the left fielder charges in unnoticed and clobbers a Scottsdale player from behind near second base. (The outfielder comes in the picture at the 18-second mark). Like everyone else, the player at second base was looking in the direction of first and had no idea someone was coming up behind him.

According to the Scottsdale Community College baseball site, the game occurred on March 29 and SCC came back from a 6-0 deficit to win in the ninth 10-8. The video was uploaded to YouTube by an account "ScottsdaleCCBaseball," on the same date. There is no account of the game on Yavapai's website and there's no story on the incident on on either.

Blake Griffin Throws Down Absurd Dunks Over Lakers Star

The hotly anticipated game between the Lakers and Clippers had barely gotten started on Wednesday night, when Griffin worked the Staples Center crowd -- and everyone on Twitter -- into frenzy with a high-flying putback slam over the Lakers' power forward.

Clippers guard Randy Foye was left wide open in the left corner as his teammate, Chris Paul, attacked the hoop from the right. Paul dished to Foye, who hoisted up the long jumper. Lurking outside of the paint when the shot went up, Griffin purposefully made his way into the lane as if he knew just how this was going to turn out. Foye's shot clanged high off the iron and Griffin soared after it. Leaping over Gasol, who had better position, Griffin caught the ball with two hands and threw it down with such authority that he might have just earned a seat in the Spanish parliament.

The dunk lifted everyone on the Clippers bench out of their seats and sent Gasol crashing down beneath the basket.

Jeremy Lin Injured - Video

The New York point guard had an MRI exam this week that revealed a small, chronic meniscus tear.

With the regular season ending April 26, the biggest story in basketball this season is probably done unless the Knicks make a deep playoff run.

He was barely holding on to a place in the NBA back in February. Now, after the back-to-back Sports Illustrated covers and popularity around the world, he has to go back to the bench when he wants to play most.

"If this was done very early in the year, obviously ... I don't know where my career would be. I could be, would be definitely without a job and probably fighting for a summer league spot," Lin said Saturday. "But having said that, this happening now hurts just as much, because all the players, we really put our heart and souls into the team and into season, and to not be there when it really matters most is hard."
The Knicks were under .500 and looking like a mess when Lin was given a chance to play extended minutes at point guard for then-coach Mike D'Antoni on Feb. 4 against New Jersey.

Lin, the first American-born player of Taiwanese or Chinese descent to play in the NBA, scored 25 points with seven assists in that New York victory, was inserted into the starting lineup two days later against Utah, and took the Knicks on a seven-game winning streak that gained world-wide attention.

Lin left the Knicks' easy victory over Detroit last Saturday, saying afterward he could have returned for the fourth quarter if the game had been close. He took part in shootaround before their game Monday and believed he could deal with the pain.

Though the swelling went down, the pain never did, and after testing it again Friday and Saturday, he decided to have the surgery.

Colt McCoy Hit By James Harrison

Thursday night's Steelers-Browns game, Cleveland quarterback Colt McCoy sustained the kind of devastating helmet-to-helmet blow that chills even the most hardened NFL fan.

As seen in the video above -- which requires a strong stomach to watch -- McCoy rolls left out of the pocket and dumps the ball to his running back a split second before being nearly decapitated by Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison. McCoy lay flat on his back for minutes after the play, occasionally flailing his arms and legs in either pain or confusion. Harrison, who'd been leading with his helmet, was flagged for a personal foul.

What the video doesn't show is an equally shocking development just three plays later: McCoy returning to the huddle, hoping to lead the Browns out of a 7-3 deficit. Instead, he soon threw an interception, essentially sealing the Steelers' 14-3 win.

The NFL is still trying to figure out how to deal with its concussion problem, as well as the unknown number of players who have suffered brain damage. Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur's call to put McCoy back out on the field raises an important question: Could a shaken McCoy even be capable of making clear-headed decisions in the interest of his own health?

Inigo Martinez Goal - Full Video

Sunday's La Liga League match between Real Sociedad and Real Betis was locked at 2-2 in second half injury time after the full 90 minutes had been played. But Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez had different plans. After a Betis turnover, he received a pass on the defensive side of midfield. Given the scant time remaining, it certainly seemed a harmless position and there was no immediate Betis pressure on the ball. Sensing that his opponent was set to walk off the pitch and head for the dressing room, Martinez launched a shot from about 60 yards out. His sterling strike caught opposing goalkeeper Casto Espinosa out of position. The ball sailed directly over Espinosa's head, grazed the bottom of the crossbar and fell into the net for the game-winning, extra-time goal.

Wilson Ramos Kidnapped - Full Video

Venezuelan police rescued Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos on Friday, two days after he was kidnapped, officials announced.

Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami said on state television that Ramos was "safe and sound" and that he was rescued by police. He said the circumstances weren't immediately clear.

Information Minister Andres Izarra initially announced the news on Twitter, saying: "The baseball player Ramos found alive by security forces in mountainous zone."

Armed men seized Ramos at gunpoint Wednesday night outside his home in a working-class neighborhood in the city of Valencia. Authorities said Thursday that they had found a stolen SUV used by the kidnappers abandoned in a nearby town.

The abduction was the first known kidnapping of a major league baseball player in a country that has dozens of players on big league rosters in the U.S., and it brought a renewed focus on worsening violent crime in Venezuela.

In the video above, Bursuc and a teammate appeared to be talking to the linesman when Sidenco and a police officer enter the scene. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Jockeys Borel, Castellano fight at Breeders' Cup - Full Video

Calvin Borel, the most well-known jockey in horse racing today, saddled up across Javier Castellano. In a particularly aggressive maneuver, Castellano cut his horse, Prince Will I Am, across the path of the other horses.
It actually looks like after Borel got in Castellano's face, it was Castellano who threw the first punch. This is the first jockey fight I can remember seeing; from the comfort of my desk, I think it's kind of a pity that they didn't attempt to fight while still mounted. Road Rash on horseback is one video game I would love to play.

Brett Favre Chin Injury, Brett Favre Injury Update -

Brett Favre expects to start on Sunday against the New England Patriots. "My expectations are to play and play well enough for us to have a chance to win this game," Favre told Werder. Take note that this is Favre that expects to play and Vikings head coach Brad Childress still hasn't officially said whether or not he will start his 41-year-old quarterback. The coach may decide to protect his quarterback from further injury by making him sit out on Sunday. Favre has been diagnosed with two fractures in his left foot. He is also the NFL's iron man and has started 291 consecutive regular season games. Even if Favre starts the game, he has been a train wreck for fantasy owners all season, throwing for ten interceptions and only 7 touchdowns. It is best to find a Favre alternative this week, such as Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Cassell or John Kitna.
