The Geneva Bound 2011 Nissan Micra DIG-S

Nissan is going to the 2011 Geneva Auto Show with a new engine dubbed as DIG-S, which is nothing but the small engine super charging technology, translated to “Direct Injection Gasoline-Supercharged” engine. By introducing the DIG-S into it’s small car Micra, Nissan is achieving compression ratio of 13:1 which makes fuel economy comparable to a diesel equivalent.

More importantly CO2 emissions are reduced as low as 95 grams for the manual transmission and 115 grams for the automatic CVT. This unit displaces 1,198 cc and with it’s three cylinders being supercharged, the outcome is astonishing. It delivers 98 bhp of power and 142 Nm of torque. The manual version reaches a blistering top speed of 181 kmph and yet delivers 4.1 ltr per 100 km!
