Baby Gaga Breast Milk Ice Cream | Strollerderby |Baby Gaga ice cream: Standard man tries breast milk flavour – Evening Standard Video

London is selling breast milk ice cream which is being served to customers in a cocktail glass.

Icecreamists, based in Covent Garden, have named the £14 dish Baby Gaga.

Victoria Hiley, 35, from Leeds provided the first 30 fluid ounces of milk which was enough to make the first 50 servings.

But the company are looking for more women to provide breast milk - and are providing £15 for every ten ounces extracted using breast pumps.

The recipe blends breast milk with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest, which is then freshly churned into ice cream.

A costumed Baby Gaga waitress serves the ice cream in a martini glass filled with the breast milk ice cream mix. Liquid nitrogen is then poured into the glass through a syringe and it is served with a rusk.

It can be served with whisky or another cocktail on request.

Mother-of-one Victoria said: 'I saw the advert offering to pay women to donate breast milk on a forum and it made me laugh.

Miss Colorado Blair Griffith Homeless, Soon To Be Jobless Video|Miss Colorado looks for a place to hang her crown Video

The 23-year-old and her mother were evicted from their home last November -- a month after winning the pageant -- and have been homeless since, Colorado's 9News reports. They're staying with a family friend after a series of setbacks, including her mother's heart attack and major surgery that caused financial troubles.

What's more, Griffith, a magna cum laude graduate of the Art Institute of Colorado, will be out of a job next month. She works at Saks Fifth Avenue, and her store is closing. Still, she keeps herself

It was just one month after Blair won the title of 2011 Miss Colorado USA.

A series of life challenges led the Morrison native to her current situation. Now, for the first time, she is ready to share her story.

"I hope that people will see this and realize, 'Wow, she is a real person,' or 'Hey, I didn't think there was someone out there going through something similar as me,'" Griffith said.

Griffith's interest in pageants began with a tragedy.

That desire encouraged her to enter her first pageant, competing for the title of Miss Colorado Teen USA. She won in 2006 on her fourth try.

"I cried because I wish that he could've been there to see it," she said.

Griffith's next challenge came when her mother had a heart attack three years ago. The health scare, which led to major surgery, also took a toll on the family's finances.

"Financially, it became difficult for us. The home that we were in, we became evicted from [it] in November of last year," Griffith, a magna cum laude graduate of the Art Institute of Colorado, said.

She had just been named Miss Colorado USA weeks earlier on Oct. 31.

Griffith says her unfortunate experience has given her a new topic to discuss when she makes appearances at various schools and events.

"[People] are going to look and say. 'OK, if she can be Miss Colorado USA and have all this going on in her life and still be focused on her goals and dreams... then I can too,'" Griffith said.

Another challenge that lots of Coloradans can relate to: losing their jobs. Griffith is experiencing that too. She currently works at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center location of Saks Fifth Avenue, which is closing in March.

"I was telling my mother the other day, 'You know, what would be really shocking? To hear great news,'" she joked. "It seems to happen once a month. Something new is being thrown at me."

Griffith practically welcomes the challenges, figuring they will, eventually, make her a better person.

WatchTop Six Revelations in the Call Between Fake David Koch- Video

Koch brothers were major backers of Republican Scott Walker, the newly elected Wisconsin governor. Walker, who is trying to bust public employee unions in Wisconsin, was punked by a phone prankster posing as David Koch. In the conversation, Walker was tricked into revealing his strategy to dupe state Democratic senators into a trap disguised as negotiations on the union issue.

Walker reveals plan to deceive Democrats

Murphy, posing as Koch, talked with Walker for about 20 minutes. Walker, thinking he was talking to Koch, said he wouldn’t negotiate with Democrats about the unions’ collective bargaining rights, but he would trick them into believing he will. Walker said he would tell the Democratic leader of the state assembly he would “talk” if the 14 absent Senate Democrats came along. According to Wisconsin state assembly rules, that would start a session, Republicans would have a quorum, and Walker would get his way. To punish Democratic lawmakers who fled to Illinois, Murphy suggested that Walker bring a baseball bat along. Walker said he has “a slugger with my name on it.”
Why the Koch brothers bought Scott Walker

The Koch brothers are supporting Walker by mobilizing their resources in Wisconsin. Americans for Prosperity, a right wing group bankrolled by the Koch brothers, has launched a $200,000 ad campaign in Wisconsin advocating that Walker strip public employee unions of their collective bargaining rights. The Koch brothers also stand to benefit from a bill in the Wisconsin senate allowing no-bid contracts for the management of state-owned heating, cooling and power plants. The Koch brothers own the three biggest companies in Wisconsin with the resources to perform those services.

1. Walker and the Senate Republicans are conspiring to withhold Democratic lawmakers' paychecks.

A minute into the call, Governor Walker describes a plan by the Senate Majority Leader to institute a new rule that would stop automatic deductions of lawmakers' paychecks if they do not appear in the Senate for more than two days. It would require lawmakers to appear in person to collect their checks.

Walker describes this as part of a plan he is working on with GOP Senators: "Each day, we're going to rachet this up a little bit."

2. Walker sees billionaire David Koch as "one of us."

Two and a half minutes in, Walker is describing a conversation he had with a Democratic state lawmaker, Tim Cullen, who Walker says is the "only reasonable" one among the Democrats. When the man pretending to be Koch suggests he calls Cullen, Walker says that although Cullen is reasonable, he is not "one of us." Who is the "us" that includes Walker and out-of-state billionaire Koch, but not an elected state legislator?

3. Walker is planning to threaten state workers with layoffs.

Five minutes into the call, Governor Walker says he is planning to issue between 5,000 and 6,000 "risk notices" to state workers announcing that they are at risk of being laid off. He makes this statement in the context of what he is planning to do to put pressure on Democrats to cave into his demands, not what is necessary due to the budget crunch. "If they want to start sacrificing thousands of public workers to be laid off," he says, "sooner or later there's gonna be pressure on Senators to come back. We're not going to compromise."

4. Walker has a plan to lie to Senate Democrats and pass the bill while they are not aware of the vote.

Seven minutes in, Walker describes a plan created by his chief of staff to call Senate Democrats back to "hear what they have to say." While he is discussing the issues with the Democrats, the Senate would be in recess. In actuality, once Democrats come back to the state assembly, Republicans would be able to pass the bill eliminating collective bargaining rights while Walker is in discussions with Democrats.

It's significantly different. The image above was actually provided by @ThatLadyV (Vanessa Price), who is Justin Bieber's regular hairstylist. Indeed, she Tweeted the Justin Bieber haircut to the world.

So far the reaction on her Twitter feed has been good. One person said,

ThatLadyV Thank you so much. You make him sexier and sexier with each hair cut. My life, is now complete.Of course, the voting has only just begun. Undeniably, however, a Justin Bieber haircut is not going to cause his fans to desert him. It just might make Vanessa Price need to change her address or phone number, or both.

TMZ indicated that the shorn hair was collected, to be apparently used for charitable causes. TMZ said it obtained a "lock" of the hair and would be using that to raise money for "some animal charities."

Mike's interview with a local newspaper, the Bremerton Patriot, Chantal auditioned against candidates with 200 or 300 in the Seattle metropolitan area and not make the cut for season 15. But do the show when she lost a few thousand women in Los Angeles.

Brad Womack and Chantal’s dog Boca seemed to bond and he was talking about buying a new home to house her dogs and cats. Hmm, leading Chantal on Brad? Brad Womack was very intimidated meeting Chantal’s parents as they were obviously very rich, living in a large opulent home. However, her parents seemed very down to earth and nice. Her dad is a former Seattle Seahawks player called Michael O’Brien and he now owns a car dealership.
Brad Womack spent his conversation with Chantal’s father discussing his history with his dad and his want of a family (is it just me or does Brad talk about his lack of a relationship with his dad a lot?). He also told Mr. O’Brien that his intentions were pure and real and Mr. O’Brien gave Brad his blessings if he wanted to marry Chantal.

The Geneva Bound 2011 Nissan Micra DIG-S

Nissan is going to the 2011 Geneva Auto Show with a new engine dubbed as DIG-S, which is nothing but the small engine super charging technology, translated to “Direct Injection Gasoline-Supercharged” engine. By introducing the DIG-S into it’s small car Micra, Nissan is achieving compression ratio of 13:1 which makes fuel economy comparable to a diesel equivalent.

More importantly CO2 emissions are reduced as low as 95 grams for the manual transmission and 115 grams for the automatic CVT. This unit displaces 1,198 cc and with it’s three cylinders being supercharged, the outcome is astonishing. It delivers 98 bhp of power and 142 Nm of torque. The manual version reaches a blistering top speed of 181 kmph and yet delivers 4.1 ltr per 100 km!

Maruti sedan SX4 in diesel shortly

Its fairly successful petrol sedan SX4 will now come fitted with CRDi (common rail direct injection) engine. To be launched on February 22, 2011, the 1.3 litre engine in diesel SX4 is the same DDSi engine Maruti has been using in its highly successful models like Swift and Dzire.

But the company has added more power and torque to this engine by adding a variable geometry turbocharger which uses variable vanes to control exhaust flow against the turbine blades and boosts airflow & efficiency.

Sources told Deccan Herald that with the help of turbocharger the 1.3 litre engine in SX4 diesel will produce maximum power of nearly 90bhp@4000 rpm (against 75bhp@4000 rpm from the same engine in Swift and Dzire). It will produce higher torque of 200Nm@1750 rpm against 190Nm@2000 rpm.

Peppy power

To make the car peppy, Maruti had to add more power to the engine because the kerb weight diesel SX4 will be 50 kg more than the petrol one thanks to heavier engine and sturdier suspensions.

Externally, though there will be no change in the look of SX4, the company is expected to make some cosmetic changes inside. But to enjoy the benefits of diesel-more power, higher mileage and significantly lower price of fuel (compared to petrol), one will have to pay nearly Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh more than petrol.

For Maruti, that may not be a deterrent as car buyers are ready to wait between two to four months for its diesel Swift and Dzire.

Review: Motorola Atrix

The Motorola Atrix 4G, billed as "the world's most powerful smartphone," arrives with 2 gigahertz of processing power--the kind you're more likely to find on a laptop than a phone.

That's notable because there's an optional laptop dock, which makes the phone function as, well, a laptop.

The Atrix is available now for pre-order from AT&T Inc and will begin selling March 6. It costs $200 with a two-year contract. But if you buy it with the dock, it will cost $500 after rebate, and you'll have to get a more expensive data plan.

On its own, the Atrix is a speedy phone, though not necessarily eye-catching. With the skinny, light dock, the Atrix is a Web surfing and e-mailing champ, which could make it a good travel buddy. For heavy-duty computing, though, I'd still stick with my full-featured laptop.

The Atrix's black slab exterior makes it look like other smart phones, but start poking around and the difference is clear: This is a fast handset. With tasks that don't require a wireless network, such as taking photos or playing games, the Atrix opened menus and applications without hesitation.

The camera seemed to start up faster than those on other smart phones I've used, and I could scroll through applications and contacts on its 4-inch screen with ease.

Considering its processing power, I was miffed to see the Atrix is currently running version 2.2 of Google Inc's Android operating system, Froyo, rather than the newer Gingerbread version, whose faster performance and better on-screen keyboard would match well with the Atrix.

The Atrix works on AT&T's upgraded 3G network, HSPA+, so to try it out I walked to AT&T Park, where the San Francisco Giants play. There, the phone streamed videos as flawlessly as if I were on my home Wi-Fi network. At my office or home I wouldn't even attempt to stream content over AT&T's network as service is unreliable.

Satellites to predict earthquakes, claim scientists

British and Russian scientists has signed an agreement to work together on the project in Moscow.

The TwinSat project involves the launch of two satellites -- one of which the scientists say is about the size of an old TV set and the other smaller than a shoebox -- which will orbit the Earth a few hundred miles apart, 'The Independent' reported.

The two linked satellites will monitor zones with high seismic and volcanic activity, such as Iceland and the Kamchatka Peninsula in the far east of Russia. Data from the satellites will be collated with data from the ground as the scientists try to understand what natural warnings are given prior to earthquakes.

As stress builds up in the Earth prior to an earthquake, subtle electromagnetic signals are released that can be read from the upper atmosphere.

"We want to try to work out how these signals differ from all the other things that are present at any given time," said Prof Alan Smith of University College London who launched the project.

Prof Vitaly Chmyrev of the Institute of Physics of the Earth in Moscow, one of the Russian partners, said the possibilities for progress in quake research were exciting and the project will "benefit both Russian and British science in addition to making the Earth a safer place".

Apple's taking 30 percent of app store subscriptions is an unkind cut

The phrase "30 percent" now amounts to fighting words in the media and gadget industries.

That's the share of revenue Apple will keep from new subscriptions and media purchases made in an iPhone or iPad application through its App Store - part of a feature it launched Tuesday for its mobile devices.

Apple knows a thing or two about smartphones, tablets and getting users to buy things on them through its App Store. So why is this a problem?

Because Apple doesn't just want to offer the store's one-click buying as an option to companies that sell subscriptions or extra content inside programs. It will require that they add App Store transactions - and demand that they offer users the same price in the App Store and at their own Web site.

Developers have until June 30 to correct existing applications.

Further, Apple's news release spells out that an app cannot even include a link to an outside Web store. And Apple won't tell developers who their customers are unless they allow that disclosure, a move guaranteed to infuriate publishers used to knowing their readers.

Apple proposes to annex a developer's subscription business - then charge that firm 30 percent for the privilege.

That 30 percent figure is the same share Apple keeps from sales of applications, where it provides valuable hosting services, copious bandwidth and one-click installation and updates.

But in providing subscription billing, Apple won't do much more than move money from one party to another. The fees for that sort of financial convenience, whether you conduct your transaction through PayPal or the check-cashing place a few blocks from my house, tend to be around 2 percent.

Apple cites only one exemption to this new policy: Subscriptions that come free with the purchase of something else, such as a print subscription to a newspaper.

(Web-based applications, meanwhile, remain unaffected by Apple's App Store rules.)

Remember when people in the news business were hoping that Apple was throwing them a lifesaver with the iPad? That device may look more like an anvil after this news.

German bakery blast: ATS, forensic experts claims differ

Last week, Union Home Secretary G K Pillai had termed the case as "unsolved" along with the blast cases in Delhi's Jama Masjid area and Varanasi.

Asked whether the investigations into the German bakery case were complete, Pillai said, "Still it is unsolved.." and added that the modus operandi used in the Pune blast was different from that in Varanasi and Delhi.

The Pune Bakery blast case was jinxed for ATS Maharashtra when it first arrested a youth Abdul Samad from Mangalore and accused him of carrying out the blast.

However, they were left red faced after no evidence was provided about his role. ATS chief Rakesh Maria, after showing arrest of Baig and naming him as Lashker-e-Taiba chief for Maharashtra, had committed a faux pas when he claimed that the accused had been present in Pune where as ATS Deputy Inspector General, Ravindra Kadam, who was posted in Pune, rejected that Baig had ever visited Pune.

Baig, who has been granted audience with his counsel A Rehman, has contended that he was picked up by ATS weeks before the blast at Pune's German bakery had taken place in connection with a petty crime.

Baig's counsel is trying to prepare his defence from the 2,700 pages of the charge sheet in which he claims names of witnesses have been allegedly removed.

The advocate had recently submitted that the ATS has conducted the investigations and has filed a charge sheet against Baig and wanted to know the names of witnesses so that he could prepare his defence.

Rehman said he was facing practical problems in reading the charge sheet, determining role of witnesses and preparing the defence as the names of witnesses were allegedly omitted from the charge sheet at the time of supplying copies.

The ATS had claimed that the blast was carried out by Indian Mujahideen and LeT but the hate mail from banned IM after the Jama Masjid blast last September had accused the ATS chief of trapping "innocents" in the German bakery case.

Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type (Unlocked)

Nokia's C3-01 Touch & Type has a clumsy name, but it's a darn useful cell phone. It's a standard candy bar style handset with a numeric keypad, except that it also has a large (for its size) touch screen. At just $179—inexpensive for an unlocked device—the Nokia C3-01 offers plenty of power for world travelers, or anyone who wants a svelte device that works with AT&T, T-Mobile, or prepaid SIM cards. That makes it our new Editors' Choice for unlocked cell phones.

Design and Call Quality
The Nokia C3-01 Touch & Type looks and feels classy. It measures 4.4 by 1.9 by 0.4 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.5 ounces. The aluminum housing and tapered battery cover make the C3-01 comfortable to hold for long periods. My test model was silver; a charcoal gray version is also available. The 2.4-inch, plastic resistive touch screen sports 240-by-320-pixel resolution. Unlike the larger Nokia C6 ($249, 2.5 stars), the C3's screen was accurate and responsive to my touches. The numeric keypad features large but heavily recessed keys. Dialing numbers felt a bit stiff, but I got used to it quickly.

The Nokia C3-01 is a quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and quad-band HSDPA 10.2 (850/900/1900/2100) device with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. That makes it perfect for overseas travel, as the C3-01 can hit high-speed data networks both here and in many other countries. I tested the C3 with an AT&T SIM; a T-Mobile SIM will work fine, but you'll be limited to 2G speeds in the U.S.

Call quality was okay, but not great in my tests. Callers said my voice sounded about average through the C3-01's tiny microphone. On my side of the call, voices sounded muffled and distant, and there wasn't enough gain for noisier offices even with the volume maxed out. Reception was average. Calls sounded clear through an Aliph Jawbone Icon ($99, 4 stars) Bluetooth headset. There's no voice dialing of any kind, Bluetooth or otherwise. The speakerphone sounded clear and full, although it didn't go quite as loud as I would have liked. Battery life was average at 4 hours and 41 minutes of talk time.

Operating System and Apps
The Series 40 6th Edition OS is easy enough to get around, and isn't the complex nightmare that Series 60 has become over the years. The well-calibrated touch screen only helps matters. Nokia doesn't publish a CPU spec for the C3-01, but the phone feels much more responsive than the admittedly more ambitious Nokia C6 does.

Otherwise, you get a fairly standard software complement for a Series 40 phone. Nokia's WebKit browser is a newer addition, and it's pretty usable, but the low screen resolution and small size mean that you're better off sticking with WAP pages. There are built-in Nokia Messaging e-mail, IM, and threaded SMS apps. All are reasonably powerful, but considering the phone's numeric keypad, the "Type" portion of the C3-01's name is a bit of a stretch. Get something with a QWERTY keyboard or larger touch screen if you plan on handling a lot of e-mail. There's also no GPS, so keep that in mind.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions
The standard-size 3.5-mm headphone jack is welcome. Nokia buried the microSD card slot underneath the battery cover, but accessing it was easy enough; my 32GB SanDisk card worked fine. There is only 23MB of free internal memory. Music tracks sounded clear and full over Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth headphones ($129, 3.5 stars). The music player was fun to use and displays large album art thumbnails. There's also an FM radio. There are no options to buy music over the air, but that's not a huge loss. Standalone videos played smoothly in full-screen mode and looked sharp, although the 2.4-inch LCD is a limiting factor for video playback.

The 5-megapixel camera comes with an LED flash, though it lacks auto-focus. Test photos looked very good: sharp, natural, and well lit both indoors and out. Shutter speeds were fast, and it was easy to navigate the camera's various settings. Nokia includes image rotation, color, and contrast controls for some basic on-device photo editing. Recorded 640-by-480-pixel videos were a little jerky at 15 frames per second, but they were usable.

All told, the Nokia C3-01 Touch & Type is a great second phone for use overseas, or for anyone that doesn't like being tied to a contract here in the U.S. The Sony Ericsson Naite ($149, 4 stars) is still a fine choice, and it's $30 cheaper. But you lose the touch screen and standard-size headphone jack, and the Naite doesn't have nearly as good a camera as the Nokia C3-01. If you want a QWERTY keyboard, the Nokia E5 ($229, 3 stars) offers a pretty comfortable one, plus GPS, and its Series 60 OS makes it a real smartphone that runs thousands of third-party apps. It also lacks a touch screen, though, and it's made of plastic instead of aluminum. Worse, the OS is a lot more complicated; existing Symbian fans will take to the E5, but everyone else will have an easier time with the C3-01.

RIM, Nokia, DoCoMo Dodge Google's 'dumb Pipe' Menace

Nokia is aiming for "an environment where the relationship between the services providers, handset manufacturers and operators are in an appropriate balance," said Stephen Elop, Nokia's CEO. "Our philosophy is to be the most operator friendly," he said.

Google presents a conundrum for some of the established companies in the mobile industry. Its Android software helped hardware makers such as Motorola turn around their fortunes and has helped operators sell more data contracts. But other phone makers, like Nokia, opted not to use Android for fear that the platform would corner too much of the market and stifle innovation.

Google is also offering lots of services to mobile users that mobile operators would prefer to offer.

"What's most important for the network operators is how to avoid being reduced to a dumb pipe," said Ryuji Yamada, president and CEO of NTT DoCoMo. "We are susceptible more than ever to the risk of becoming a dump pipe ... and we are determined to avoid that by all means."

He said one way to avoid that fate is for operators to offer intelligent services from the cloud. But the example he gave is a DoCoMo service that translates languages, similar to one that Google demonstrated at this same conference last year, noted Ben Wood, an analyst with CCS Insight.

Yamada acknowledged that such services can be offered by third parties but didn't say much about how the operator might beat out Google. "It's a race between these two different camps," he said. "Being the network operator, we are in the best position to know what the network is capable of."

RIM appears to be working hard to try to help operators ward off competition from the likes of Google and others. "There may have to be a Google translation service and a Nokia location service but at the end of the day it better be a DoCoMo service overarching [that directs customers] to their bill and branding and distribution or the alternative is a bit pipe with a programmable SIM," RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie said.

RIM this week rolled out some new capabilities aimed at helping operators hold on to their relationships with customers. For instance, it offers the capability for operators to let customers "gift" applications or airtime to others, with the charges showing up on their mobile bill. RIM also announced that Telefónica and Vodafone would start letting users pay for applications from the RIM application store on their regular bills.

Operators want to bill customers because they think it helps build a relationship with users and because it could allow for new sources of revenue. With Apple and Android, for instance, most end users pay for apps with their credit cards through the respective application stores and so the operator doesn't get a share of the revenue from apps.

These days, any time a CEO from a company that provides services to end users meets with an operator, the operator is trying to size up the goals of that company, Balsillie said. The operators are wondering if they can trust the company and if its business model has a sustainable business structure for the operator, he said.

"The structure of the industry is very much in flux," Balsillie said. He said the issue of what role the operator will play is the most relevant issue of the industry currently.
