AMY WINEHOUSE IN THE PROCESS OF ADOPTING A GIRL BEFORE DEATH

10-year-old girl from the island of St. Lucia, the girl and her grandmother told a British paper today.

The girl -- Dannika Augustine (seen above with Amy) -- says she met the singer during one of Amy's visits to the island over the past few years. She says she was living in poverty with her single mom when Amy took an interest in her.

Dannika tells The Sunday Mirror, "Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me ... She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me."

New '16 And Pregnant' Spin-Off '16 And Well-Adjusted' (VIDEO)

Reality shows "16 And Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" have shown the trials and tribulations associated with having a child before you're ready, but they've turned a blind eye to the girls who are increasingly finding themselves in the minority. We speak of course, of the "16 And Well-Adjusted." Doomed to make practical choices and think things out before making a decision, these girls struggle to be accepted by their pregnant peers while also preparing themselves for the future, which is sadly bright.

Al Jazeera English Launches In New York City

At midnight, Al Jazeera English launched in New York City on Time Warner Cable, a major step in the network’s goal of expanding further into the U.S. cable market and a chance to reach two million households in a world capital of culture and commerce. The network will also launch on Verizon FiOS in the coming days.

Al Anstey, managing director of Al Jazeera English, told The Huffington Post that AJE's website receives more online traffic from New York City than from any other city around the globe –- evidence of high demand in the Big Apple. Now that the network will be reaching cable viewers, too, Anstey hopes to make further inroads into the media capital.

“New York is a very important city,” Anstey said. “It’s looking at all directions on the globe and all directions are looking back at New York City. So it’s a truly global city. It’s got a very outward looking, diverse, intelligent audience -- obviously an influential audience in some quarters as well. So it’s a key part of our strategy.”

Since launching in Nov. 2006, AJE has been dogged by lingering fears about its mission, stemming from the Bush administration’s condemnation of its sister network, Al Jazeera Arabic. In addition to verbally criticizing the Arabic network -- which had been airing Osama bin Laden’s video communiqués -- the U.S. military fired missiles at Al Jazeera’s office in Kabul in 2001 and later dropped bombs on its Baghdad newsroom during the Iraq invasion.

College Students Using 'Sugar Daddies' To Pay Off Loan Debt

22-year-old student at Hunter College, had confided in her roommate about the trip and they agreed to swap text messages during the day to make sure she was safe.

Once in Greenwich, a man who appeared significantly older than his advertised age of 42 greeted Taylor at the train station and then drove her to the largest house she had ever seen. He changed into his swimming trunks, she put on a skimpy bathing suit, and then, by the side of his pool, she rubbed sunscreen into the folds of his sagging back -- bracing herself to endure an afternoon of sex with someone she suspected was actually about 30 years her senior.

Taylor doubted that her client could relate to someone who had grown up black and poor in the South Bronx. While he summered on Martha's Vineyard, she'd likely pass another July and August working retail in Times Square.

A love match it wasn't. But then again, this was no ordinary date.

A month prior, faced with about $15,000 in unpaid tuition and overdue bills, Taylor and her roommate typed "tuition," "debt," and "money for school" into Google. A website called SeekingArrangement.com popped up. Intrigued by the promise of what the site billed as a "college tuition sugar daddy," Taylor created a "sugar baby" profile and eventually connected with the man from Greenwich. ("Taylor" is the pseudonym she uses with men she meets online. Neither she nor any of the other women interviewed for this article permitted their real names be used.)

In her profile on the site, Taylor describes herself as "a full-time college student studying psychology and looking to meet someone to help pay the bills." Photos on the site show her in revealing outfits, a mane of caramel-colored hair framing her face. But unlike other dating sites, where a user might also list preferred hobbies or desired traits, Taylor instead indicates preferences for a "sugar daddy" and an "arrangement" in the range of $1,000 to $3,000 a month.

CNN's Don Lemon And Rand Paul Clash Over Debt Ceiling (VIDEO)

As the House and Senate again failed to reach an agreement on how to raise the debt ceiling, Paul appeared on CNN to explain the Tea Party position on the talks. Lemon started off the interview by asking him to chat "without talking points." He also began aggressively trying to get Paul to answer his questions, asking him repeatedly how he had voted on the so-called "Cut, Cap and Balance" bill from the House.

Lemon then wondered whether Paul's insistence on measures like a balanced budget amendment were isolating him.

"The Democrats have made many concessions when it comes to what's going on here, and even the Tea Party position it appears to most people remains rigid," Lemon said. "The question is, have you made your point? And by continuing to go on with this, do you feel like you're overreaching and that you're going to lose the clout?"

Paul started talking about how he didn't want to add any more debt to the country's finances. Lemon cut him off. "Hang on, hang on," he said. "Can we just stick to that--we're going to get to that--"

"Let me finish my thought," Paul said.

"Hold on, please, be respectful here," Lemon responded. "I'm trying to answer your question, you've interrupted my answer," Paul said.

"If you answer the question, I'll give you plenty of time," Lemon said.

The two clashed again when Lemon asked who Paul thinks will be to blame if the U.S. defaults on its debt obligations. Again, Paul didn't answer the question directly, and, again, Lemon pressed him on it. There was yet another contentious back-and-forth when Lemon asked Paul about whether he understood that the public is frustrated with Washington, and Paul started talking about measures he had introduced in the Senate.

"I don't want talking points, with all due respect, I'm asking you, do you feel the public sentiment in Washington?" Lemon asked. "This isn't a talking point, I'm trying to tell you what we did 30 minutes ago in the Senate," Paul shot back.

Extremism In U.S. Debated By Feds, Analysts

United States are devoting enough resources and attention to the threat posed by right-wing extremists here. On the alert for such threats posed by white supremacists and members of a sovereign citizen movement that rejects government authority and militias, law enforcement officials around the country have reportedly asked for budget increases to handle the task.

Department of Homeland Security officials insist that the level of activity by such groups has remained consistent over the past few years and that the agency is focused on the menace posed by such groups.

"As it stands today, we have been much more focused than at any time in the last 10 years on threat posed by homegrown terrorism," a senior DHS counterterrorism official told The Huffington Post.

Yet analysts who track extremist activity claim that the threat posed by right-wing extremists in the United States is on the rise and that federal law enforcement agencies may not be giving them enough resources or attention.

Right-wing extremist activity increased in 2008 and 2009 and has stayed persistent in 2010 and 2011, says former DHS domestic terror analyst Daryl Johnson, who founded a consulting firm that tracks extremist activity. He produced the 2009 report that created a political firestorm after it warned of a surge in right-wing extremism due to the election of the country's first black president and the economic recession.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Treasury prices turned higher Thursday, pushing yields on 10-year notes to the lowest in a week, as traders eyed the upcoming 7-year notes auction to give a snapshot of investor demand for U.S. debt.

In the afternoon the Treasury Department finishes the auctions for the week when selling $29 billion in 7-year debt 7_YEAR -0.75% . Monday’s auction of 5-year notes 5_YEAR -1.22% showed a weak demand for U.S. debt, but analysts expect a better outcome for the 7-year notes.

Kristin Cavallari, Jay Cutler Call Off Engagement

The magazine quotes a several sources who claim that it was Cutler who called off the engagement, but it is unclear whether the two have ended their relationship. Cavallari wrote to fans on her official Twitter page on Sunday, "Thanks for the support. Love u guys." However, she has not made any mention about the status of her relationship with Cutler.

Just last week the reality star, who is most famous for being on "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," Tweeted about her engagement party. "Thx to all my amazing friends for making my engagement party a blast last night," she wrote on July 17.

Cavallari, 24, and Cutler, 28-year-old Chicago Bears quarterback, have been dating since the fall of 2010 and Cutler proposed to her during a trip to Cabo San Lucas in April. The couple was planning to wed in the spring of 2012 but had not yet set a date.

Cavallari, who hails from Denver, Colorado, starred on "Laguna Beach" between 2004 and 2005 and later appeared on its spinoff, "The Hills," between 2009 and its finale in 2010, replacing main star Conrad.

As recently as last week Cavallari tweeted about her recent engagement party.

"Thx to all my amazing friends for making my engagement party a blast last night!" she wrote.

The couple also had recently completed their wedding registry.

People reported that the break-up came as a shock to Cavallari, who had planned to move to Chicago for the upcoming football season.

Cavallari rose to fame in reality TV but has since dabbled in acting with appearances in ABC's The Middle and CBS' CSI: NY.

Cutler spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos after the 2006 NFL draft before being traded to the Bears in 2009.

Olivia Wilde On Acting, Hollywood

27-year old actress; joining the Hugh Laurie-led "House, MD" in 2007, she scored her breakout film role in last year's "Tron: Legacy." This summer, she's got two major films coming out back-to-back, the space western mashup, "Cowboys & Aliens," and the raunchfest semi-romcom, "The Change-Up."

She also takes a pretty picture, which is both her blessing and curse.

Wilde is featured in a long new profile in The New York Times, tracing her first moments in Hollywood to the cusp of superstardom that she's on now. Working at a casting office, she got noticed herself, which put her on both the modeling and acting track nearly straight away.

She even suggested a raunchy scene in "Friends With Benefits" in which she gets a tattoo in a very intimate place, and did a lot of her own stunts in "Cowboys & Aliens." She clearly had a good relationship with the latter film's director, Jon Favreau.

Coney Island Nude Beach - Full Video

The American Association for Nude Recreation is lobbying for the creation of a nude beach near Coney Island, but the city of New York - home to Eliot Spitzer, Anthony Wiener and (at least for now) Dominique Strauss Kahn - isn't quite ready to drop trow.

The AANR, which is run out of a (wait for it) strip mall in Kissimmee, Florida, (Call 1-800-TRY-NUDE!) lobbies on behalf of what it describes as the $400 million global nude recreation industry. According to the AANR, there are 270 clothes-free resorts in the US - those are hotels and RV parks, not beaches. (Click here to find out what the best nude beaches are in the world.)

Coney Island historian Charles Denson said that nude sunbathers swarmed to the Brooklyn seaside as late as the 1970s, although sections were separated by gender.

"There were bathhouses that had nude sunbathing decks where you could let it all hang out," he said. "You couldn't see it from the boardwalk, but you could see it from the rides, and that became an added attraction."

He said the best location for bringing back nude sunbathing is an isolated area near West 37th Street, adding, "It might become quite an attraction."

Beachgoers yesterday were split on whether exposed buns in Coney Island should extend beyond Nathan's.

"People should be able to do what they want to do, but I don't know if I'd pick Coney Island to do that," said Lauren Irizarry, 29, a bartender from Bensonhurst.

"There are a lot of creeps around the beach."

But Simone Bazus, a 23-year-old Harlem writer, said she's ready to take it all off in Coney Island.

Kalka Mail Train Accident Leaves 31 Dead 100 Injured at India - Full Video

Sunday, killing at least 31 and injuring 100 others, officials said.

The Kalka Mail train was on its way to Kalka, in the foothills of the Himalayas, from Howrah, a station near Kolkata in eastern India, when 12 coaches and the engine jumped the tracks at Malwan station, near the town of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh state, senior railway official A.K. Jain said.

The cause of the derailment was not immediately clear but it appeared that the driver applied the emergency brakes, Jain said.

At least 31 people were killed and rescue workers pulled at least 100 injured passengers out of the wreckage, said Brij Lal, a state police official.

The accident site was a pile of twisted metal. At least one coach flew above the roof of another ahead of it and was dangling precariously, television footage showed. Another coach was thrown away from the rest of the train.

The toll was likely to rise as rescuers made their way through the coaches and used gas cutters to cut through the mangled metal, Lal said. Rescue efforts continued late into the night.

"We're trying to cut into the coaches and rescue those still trapped inside," Lal said.

A senior railway official, H.C. Joshi, told CNN-IBN news channel that rescuers were struggling to free at least five people pinned under the wreckage of one of the worst-damaged coaches.

Medical personnel rushed to the area, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh state.

Tyra Banks Shows Off Curvy Bikini Body in Mexico

America’s favorite Top Model – Tyra Banks – proved that she can still stop traffic with her bangin’ body when she flaunted her curves in a skimpy purple bikini during a romantic vacation with her boyfriend earlier this week.

While her supermodel peers were either getting married (Kate Moss) or attending star-studded royal weddings (Naomi Campbell in Monaco), Tyra spent her holiday weekend South of the Border with banker boyfriend John Utendahl. Wearing a bright purple bandeau two-piece, the 37-year-old retired model enjoyed a dip in a Jacuzzi with her longtime beau.

The TV host has been criticized over the years for gaining weight. In 2006, Tyra was mocked for her fuller figure after photos of her in a bathing suit appeared on the cover of several magazines. Tyra later went on her talk show, The Tyra Show, and infamously slammed her critics
