Garmin quatix Marine GPS Watch

Garmin introduces the quatix, the world’s first navigating marine GPS watch includes features that have never been combined into one watch before. The lightweight watch packs Garmin’s high-sensitivity GPS sensor, allowing users to load it with routers, mark waypoint, and navigate to destination. It has a large 1.2-inch monochrome LCD and polyurethane wristband for maximum flexibility and durability. It delivers mariners multiple sets of marine datum such as tidal information, COG (course over ground), SOG (speed over ground), and VMG (velocity made good), along with alerts for speed and anchor drag. It’s waterproof to 50 m. and also sports altimeter, barometer and 3-axis compass to provide real-time information of the environment, predict weather change and offer the user’s bearing. The watch will switch to Tack-Assist mode once the race began, and indicates whether the vessel is getting headed or lifted. Its built-in remote capabilities allows you to control a Garmin autopilot. You can pair the quatix with Garmin GNT 10 NMEA Transceiver to wirelessly stream and view NEMA 2002 data, such as wind speed and direction, water depth. Garmin Quatix Marien Price & Availability Garmin is going to release the quatix in Q1 2013. Pricing is unknown at the moment. Quatix Sailing Features Virtual Starting Line – Set up a virtual starting line between two marked GPS waypoints, for example between a buoy and the committee boat. Start Countdown Timer – quatix combines the starting line with a built-in countdown timer to calculate both distance to the line as well as desired speed and burn time available, so you can skipper the vessel to cross the line at maximum speed at the exact start time. Tack Assist mode – Once the race has begun, the watch then switches to Tack Assist mode and indicates whether the vessel is getting headed or lifted based on the optimal tack angle provided and makes for a more efficient and controlled sailing experience.
